An Australian education has provided Andrea with the skills and knowledge to practise veterinary medicine anywhere in the world. She says her course gave her immense opportunities for hands-on experience and practical training.
“With the knowledge and experience I gained as a student of the veterinary science program, I felt confident that I had a solid foundation and the necessary skills to allow me to pass the National Veterinary Board exams and to practice veterinary medicine anywhere in the world,” she said.
Andrea describes the course content as both stimulating and challenging. It allowed her to explore many areas of veterinary medicine including general practice, specialist practice and research. The lecturers were also very helpful and encouraging.
“I have been very impressed with the standard of veterinary education and felt encouraged by the dedication and support of both professors and clinicians,” she said.
Andrea first came to Australia because of her institution’s international reputation and program diversity. She did work experience in Australia during the four-year degree, which helped her to gain employment back in North America. She is now specialising in small animal medicine at an American university.
“I completed an internship in small animal medicine at Louisiana State University and have moved on to a residency in small animal medicine at the University of Minnesota,” she said.
