Before coming to Australia, I completed a degree in Physics at Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia. My studies were focused on theoretical cosmology research, which sparked an interest in astronomy and motivated me to keep studying and specialise at Master’s level. I love living in Indonesia, but when it comes to my passion—astronomy—the opportunities are quite limited. That’s why I decided to study abroad.
I discovered that the Australian National University (ANU) Mount Stromlo Observatory has researchers focused on cosmology and the accelerating universe (including Nobel Prize-winning work), which inspired me to apply. Stromlo has a vibrant community of astrophysicists and outstanding researchers on this topic, and I am excited to be part of a research group that continues this important work.
I love the community and the activities at ANU’s Stromlo. Everyone is supportive, and the environment helps us stay connected with each other’s work, creating more opportunities to learn and grow.
Studying alongside great researchers has been my best experience so far. I have had the opportunity to attend weekly talks by leading researchers from around the world, which has opened my eyes to the latest developments in the field.
In Canberra, aside from loving Stromlo (and the amazing views I get every day), I also enjoy walking or cycling to the lake while listening to music. The peacefulness and lack of crowds really help me release any stress.
The city’s parks and nature reserves provide a perfect backdrop for outdoor activities, whether it’s a leisurely walk, a picnic or simply enjoying the scenery. Whenever I need to recharge, I can easily find a great place to relax.
I love doing research, so I am seeking a PhD! After that, I plan to continue doing research as a future cosmologist!
