Study Australia Industry Experience Program (SAIEP)

Work on real-world industry projects to learn new skills, build your networks and boost your employability.

Gain industry experience through SAIEP

The Study Australia Industry Experience Program (SAIEP) connects domestic and international students with employers across Australia. The program aims to support students to access real-world industry experience during their studies and improve their post-study employment prospects.

Delivered by Practera, in partnership with the Australian Government, places in the SAIEP are proudly funded and made available through participating states and territories, Australian universities and higher education providers nationally.

The SAIEP 2-week experience brings together small multi-disciplinary groups of students to work directly with employers on real industry projects.

Projects are completed virtually, so that international and domestic students across Australia can build new connections and networks, and work directly employers in Australia and around the world

The program was an exceptional opportunity for university students like me to get exposure working with clients from different industries. Further, it was a special chance for us to network with students from other Australian universities.

What to expect

The SAIEP aims to help you develop the critical 21st century skills sought-after by employers across all sectors, including problem solving, teamwork and collaboration, innovative thinking, leadership and creativity.

During the 2-week program (approximately 25 hours in total), you will complete an induction process, meet with your project teammates and your business client, submit a joint draft report, receive and integrate client feedback and then submit a final group report.

Since being launched in July 2021, SAIEP has engaged nearly 8000 international and domestic students from 55 Australian education and training providers, working on authentic industry projects with over 1000 Australian and international employers.

I had an excellent opportunity to work with new peers on an actual project requirement. It enabled me to interact with the client and team members … discuss problems, outcomes, the importance of teamwork and time management.
