Choosing Darwin
I first came to Australia two years ago on a working holiday visa, after studying engineering in Brazil - a course I couldn’t complete due to the COVID pandemic. I lived and worked in Melbourne for the first few months but decided to move to Darwin to meet the ‘regional’ work visa requirements.
I simply fell in love with Darwin and the Northern Territory. After working here for 8 months, I decided to settle in and take up studies in Civil Construction Design at Sydney City College - Darwin campus.
Life in Darwin
Darwin has provided me with all the opportunities that I need to grow, both professionally and personally. The friendliness of the people that live here, combined with sunny weather for most of the year, creates a great atmosphere, which made me passionate about calling this place home.
In addition to my studies, I am working as a Lifeguard and Customer Service Coordinator at the Aqua Park and Wave Lagoon Kiosk.
In my free time, I really enjoy doing sports such as basketball and swimming, as well as running and gym workouts, hanging out with my friends and cooking. I also love to spend time out in the sun and nature, and Darwin is one of the best places in Australia for that.
A diverse, supportive community
Studying in Australia is great for me because of the diversity. At my college there are people from everywhere around the world, so in addition to course learning, I've ended up learning about lots of different cultures too. I love it here and I love Darwin!
I truly hope my story inspires others to study and live in the Northern Territory and experience its welcoming community and lifestyle. It’s an exceptional place to live, study, work and grow, surrounded by people that are always willing to help each other.
