Introducing Guides to enhance international student engagement

The Australian Government’s Department of Education has released resources to support the Australian education and skills sector to enhance international student engagement.

The Australian Government’s Department of Education has released a series of six guides and a framework to support the Australian education and skills sector to enhance international student engagement.

About the resources

The resources were funded by the Australian Government under the International Education Innovation Fund and developed by Deakin University. The project also developed:

  • a virtual map providing a directory of support services for international students, and
  • videos of good practice stories to support international student engagement.

The Guides provide good practice examples to inform the design and delivery of international student engagement activities, services and programs. They focus on the following aspects:

  • mental health and wellbeing
  • teaching, learning and language
  • intercultural and community engagement
  • accommodation
  • crisis navigation
  • work integrated learning and employability

The goal of this project is to enhance international student engagement across these key areas to create a positive student experience and to promote good practice across the sector.
